Easiest Way to Build Followers? @Reply Daily!

by admin on February 6, 2010

So whats the easiest way to quickly and easily build a Twitter following?  Simply make full use of @replies

Although people will try and sell you scammy auto following tools – by far the easiest way to build a targeted and valuable following is making the habit to @reply at least twice daily.

By using @replies you are directly connecting with other people.  Your username will appear in their stream and they will be encouraged to reply to you.

Of course, @replying with nothing to say is fairly useless.  I find you need to be following around 100 people to see enough tweets that interest you to reply.

So there you have it.  A simple and easy way to build Twitter followers.

Are there any tools that give you the ratio of @replies vs. normal tweets of all the people you follow? I’ve searched everywhere and I cannot find such a tool.

As a twitter user for three years, I’m realizing more and more the value of @replying to people and @replying back. With these tweets being posted, the real value is when people @reply to each other. I’ve been @replying a lot more now.

In my first couple years tweeting, i was hesitant to @reply a lot, because other people didn’t need to read my @replies. But now that twitter and other clients don’t automatically include other people’s @replies that don’t include me, i’m much more apt to @reply other people.

Moving forward, I want to follow people who actively use twitter to @reply to others. I’m going to follow less and less people that don’t @reply frequently enough.

Summary:
I wish there was a tool where I can see a list of the people I follow that rarely @reply, because then I will drop the people who never @reply to anyone (not just myself), but people who just tweet and tweet and never @reply.
